Cambrian Ridge - Loblolly-Sherling

Greenville, Alabama

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Cambrian Ridge is in Greenville, Alabama, about an hour southwest of Montgomery. Known by avid golfers as one of the most beautiful and challenging stops on the Trail, it's well worth the ride for any golfer looking for 36 holes of jaw-dropping golf. Cambrian Ridge was immortalized in the 2003 Microsoft golf game Links, for which it was the subject of an extensive ad campaign in Golf magazine. In 2001, Golf Digest ranked Cambrian Ridge the #3 Best New Public Golf Course in the Country, the #6 Golf Course in the State and the #1 Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The Loblolly nine, with its gently rolling fairways, cathedral-like pines and water-fronted greens, exudes a stately, Augusta-like quality. The tee shot on the par 4 seventh hole is elevated and played to a valley, and the approach shot is uphill to a beautifully bunkered green. The Sherling nine may be the best nine on the entire trail. Drama takes center stage at Sherling's ninth hole, which marches straight uphill past a deep, boulder-strewn ravine to a lolling tongue of a double green shared with the ninth on the Canyon nine.
