Cambrian Ridge - Sherling-Canyon

Greenville, Alabama

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Cambrian Ridge is in Greenville, Alabama, about an hour southwest of Montgomery. Known by avid golfers as one of the most beautiful and challenging stops on the Trail, it's well worth the ride for any golfer looking for 36 holes of jaw-dropping golf. Cambrian Ridge was immortalized in the 2003 Microsoft golf game Links, for which it was the subject of an extensive ad campaign in Golf magazine. In 2001, Golf Digest ranked Cambrian Ridge the #3 Best New Public Golf Course in the Country, the #6 Golf Course in the State and the #1 Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The Sherling nine may be the best nine on the entire Trail. Drama takes center stage at Sherling's ninth hole, which marches straight uphill past a deep, boulder-strewn ravine to a lolling tongue of a double green shared with the ninth on the Canyon nine. The Canyon nine, carved from former hunting grounds where deer blinds remain nailed to the hardwood, is a thrilling stretch of target-style golf. Hole #1, a 501-yard par 4, drops 200 feet from tee to fairway. Golf Digest named the Sherling/Canyon combination the third best new public course in America in 1994 and ranked it 13th on its list of America's Top 50 Affordable Courses. Golf Digest's Places to Play named this combination one of the nation's 40 Super Value Courses.
