Defuniak Springs, Florida
This 18-hole championship course is the oldest in Walton County and considered to be the most difficult and challenging in the panhandle region of Florida. Carved from gently rolling hills and pine forests, it includes five spring-fed lakes, 23 sand-traps and natural hazards, including towering trees, sandy scrub brush, hardpan and a myriad of flowering shrubs. Tree lined, tight fairways lead to small Bermuda grass greens that are not only elevated but pitched and undulating enough to make the very best of putters a bit nervous. It's challenging enough for professionals yet a delight even for beginners. DeFuniak Springs Country Club, an affordable, hidden gem of a course with beautiful views from every vantage point, located in a turn-of-the-century, picture-postcard town. Come play for a day, stay for a week, or even a lifetime.
