This peaceful setting on the shores of Lake Barkley is historically linked to the author F. Scott Fitzgerald. The property was once the farm of Willis B. Machen, grandfather of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. It’s not hard to imagine the serene, Gatsby-style era from this park, with idyllic days of playing golf and cruising the lake. You need imagine no longer; the park now has a challenging 18-hole, par-72 golf course! The front 9 holes are situated in a wooded area and many of the back 9 holes are flanked by lake views. A pro shop offers rental carts, clubs and golf merchandise. The park also has a picnic area, a fishing pier and a boat ramp. Situated along the shores of Lake Barkley, Mineral Mound State Park Golf Course is a great place to spend the day and present a challenge to all level of players. The front 9 holes are situated in the native hills and forest area of historical Lyon County. The No. 4 hole offers long uphill shot making. The back 9 offers beautiful lake views with several holes flanked by water. The No. 11 plays over a lake inlet. The facility has a magnificent new golf shop that offers scenic views from atop a hill overlooking Lake Barkley. Public boat ramp and picnic areas are available to enjoy a day of relaxation and enjoyment. In 2009 Golf Digest magazine ranked the course #5 as the "Best Courses You Can Play."
