After many years as a private golf club, Newport was purchased and renovated in 1999/2000, making it one of the finest golf clubs and conference facilities in the Houston area. Included in the renovations were the 18-hole championship golf course with Champions Bermuda greens, a St. Andrews stone bridge across the 18th hole island green, a 300-yard driving range, putting and chipping green, men's and women's locker rooms, clubhouse, full service pro shop, 19th hole grill and snack bar, and much more. The 6,914 yard course maneuvers through an actual forest, and it's not uncommon to see deer feeding along the fairways. The course was designed to challenge the most accomplished golfer and provide an unforgettable experience for the novice.
