Copperopolis, California
The Golf Club at Copper Valley is in Copperopolis, California, an hour east of Stockton. This 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Carter Morrish and opened in 1996. Scenic and challenging, it rolls through the foothills and features both gentle and dramatic changes in elevation. Breathtaking scenery, including dramatic views of the Sierras, Yosemite and a variety of wildlife, is just part of the experience. Natural lakes, streams and grasses frame each hole, with bleach-white bunkers to excite your every shot. Stretching just over 6,800 yards from the back tees, the championship tees have a slope rating of 137. The mens’ tees measure 6,044 yards with a gentle slope rating of 122, and the ladies’ tees measure 4,486 yards with a slope rating of 117. Since opening, the course has received numerous awards, including recognition as the 8th best public access course in the state of California by Golfweek in 2006. In 1997, Golf Digest named Copper Valley the 7th Best New Upscale Golf Course in the country. Golf Digest has also rated Saddle Creek four and a half stars. Only Pebble Beach is rated higher in California, with five stars.
