Muscle Shoals, Alabama
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses –the Fighting Joe and the Schoolmaster -- and lies between the Wheeler and Wilson dams on the Tennessee River. Wheeler Dam is named in honor of Gen. Joseph “Fighting Joe” Wheeler, the only Confederate General to attain the same rank later in the U.S. Army. The Fighting Joe golf course at The Shoals is the first Trail course to break 8,000 yards. The golf course is a long, links-style course that provides straight-forward golf. The golf course is as beautiful as it is long, as it is nestled along the Tennessee River with breathtaking views from the clubhouse as well as from the 18th hole. Fighting Joe accommodates all playing levels. The Schoolmaster is named for President Woodrow Wilson, who was responsible for getting Wilson Dam built, and was known as “the Schoolmaster of politics.” The tree-lined Schoolmaster golf course is wooded, rolling and more traditional with every hole keeping with the natural topography of the Tennessee River. The Shoals features a driving range with grass tees and a short game area. Daily tee times are available, so reserve yours today!
