Scottsdale, Arizona
Troon North Golf Club, one of North Scottsdale, Arizona's crown jewels, wraps gracefully around the northern slopes of landmark Pinnacle Peak. Giant granite boulders lie strewn across the rugged landscape of the High Sonoran Desert. Designed by Tom Weiskopf and opened in 1996, the course instantly met with acclaim and ranks consistently among the top public golf courses in the country. Players can experience two new layouts, built in 2007, with improved playability. Both courses feature shorter distances between front and back nines. For consistent overall design, new PennLinks creeping bent grass has been added to the surface of every putting green, and bunkers have been reconfigured or removed on both courses. The enhanced layout changes the "new" Pinnacle Course from a par 72 to par 71. It's been transformed into a more links-style feel, with a continuous layout that doesn't return to the clubhouse until the 18th hole. It's also more walkable now, with shorter distances between greens and tees.
