Reno, Nevada
Founded in the same year our country entered World War I by renowned golf expert Mrs. Gourtley Dunn Webb, the Washoe County Golf Course has a history as storied and colorful as the city in which it resides. Originally opened as a members-only club, Washoe turned public shortly after the depression. This scenic venue hosted its first professional tournament in 1946 and boasts among its champions none other than the legendary Ben Hogan. In the decades since, Washoe County Golf Course - affectionately nicknamed "The Shoe" - has undergone many changes. But, to this day, it has held its own as one of the most beautiful, playable tracks in the Truckee Meadows, and remains a favorite for its club members, locals and visitors alike.
