Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin
hispering Springs Golf Club, located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, was built in 1996 and designed by Bob Lohmann. This 18-hole course sits on what used to be Ledgeview Golf Course, an old 9-hole track. Lohmann reworked the course layout to offer a truly unique and challenging golf experience. At Whispering Springs, no two holes are alike. The front nine is reminiscent of a links style course as it guides you through rolling meadowland with native grasses and the back nine weaves through the matured trees that once lined the old course. This change of scenery not only keeps the golfer interested, but also keeps them on their toes by forcing them to keep thinking strategy. While the layout is sure to be memorable, the condition and playability of the course is what stands out to most. With bentgrass from tee to green and five sets of tees, Whispering Springs is able to offer country club quality to a large range of golfers. The full yardage reads 6960, but with the diverse selection of tees one can shorten it up to as little as 5207 yards. As proof of our tournament quality conditions, we have hosted the 2009 WPGA Open, 2010 WSGA State Match Play Championship, 2011 WWSGA State Women’s Stroke Play Championship, and the 2012 WPGA Senior Championship. We look forward to hosting more state tournaments in the future as can be evident in our constant improvements and diligent upkeep. When the round’s finished, or if to fuel up before, the bar and grill at Whispering Springs offers a mouthwatering menu that is sure to tackle any golfer’s appetite. Though it’s known as Trep’s Trap, the food, atmosphere and service will make it the only trap you’ll actually want to be in at the course.
